Each leader on our Board of Directors needs to be committed to our vision of doing what’s right for people and the planet, and eager to fulfill their governance duties as part of a financial force for change.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for members with strong communication skills, effective judgement, and respect for others — in addition to the key attributes and experience set out in our list of Desired Director Attributes and Experience and the focus areas highlighted for aspiring directors in 2024.

As a member of our Board of Directors, you'll spend approximately 40 - 50 hours per month preparing for and attending meetings, strategic planning sessions, Director development opportunities, and community events. These meetings and events may take place during regular business hours, on weekday evenings, and/or on weekends. If you're passionate about helping build a clean and fair world, this commitment is an excellent way to pursue what matters to you, positively impact your community, and help contribute to a financial force for change.

How long does each Board member hold their position?

Each position is for a three-year term, commencing at the end of the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

When does the 2024 Vancity Board of Directors election open?

The 2024 Vancity Board of Directors election opens on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 9 am and runs through to Friday, April 26, 2024 at 4:30 pm.

Attend the candidate information session

Join our candidate information session on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at 5 pm for more information on the role of Board Director and our governance practices. Register for the session.

Complete and submit nomination forms

Complete and submit all forms to by noon on Friday, December 8, 2023. This is a hard deadline and no forms submitted after this deadline will be accepted.

Prepare for interviews

Please keep your calendar open for virtual interviews with our Nominations and Election Committee between Monday, January 15 and Friday, January 26, 2024. Interviews will take place on week days in the late afternoon or evening, or during the day on the weekend. You’ll be contacted for scheduling ahead of time.
